The competitors in the 2018 CIF Track & Field Finals got unusually cool weather with a nice, but not too strong breeze. Kimberly Cheung and Katarina Maric (Special Ks) both qualified for CIF Finals last week with strong performances.
Kimberly kicked off the day with a PR and 6th place medal in the 1600. Her 5:11.13 was good for a 6th place medal in D2, and 8th overall finish out of 23 D1 and D2 competitors. Towards the end of the day Katarina ran the 300 hurdles and finished in 47.95, medaling 5th in D2 and razor thin close to her 47.85 PR. Kimberly came back to run a four second PR in the 3200 at 11:28.82.
Congrats to Kimberly and Katarina as well as the entire 2018 track & field team. It's been a great experience for all the coaches: Reinke, Cantu and Edwards. We hope to see everyone back next year with more of your friends looking for a competitive but fun environment.
