The Firebirds took the Annual Frosh-Soph Invitational by storm and came away with some impressive personal records, medals, and class competition bragging rights.

The meet was split into two sessions; a night session featuring the top 9 from San Diego County in each event for 9^th and 10^th grade athletes. The day session featured the next best 9. PRS had four 9^th graders qualify for the day session and three 10^th graders qualified for the night session.

9^th graders Camille, McKayla, Zach, and Shanyce all competed in the day session (Top 3 medal). In the frosh 100 hurdles Camille was out strong but got entangled with another hurdler and almost fell. She quickly recovered to finish strong with a time that was still less than a second off her PR. McKayla finished fourth in the frosh 1600 while posting a 5:35.55 personal record by 9 full seconds! Zach again battled down the final 100 meters and medaled in second place, fractions of a second from first. His time of 4:44.78 in the 1600 was personal record of roughly 5 full seconds. In the frosh 800 Shanyce, with a strong kick over the final 200 meters, cut a full three seconds off her PR and 5^th place finish (2:36.04).

In the night session, our 10^th grade of Kimberly, Daniel and Katarina all medaled (top 6). Kimberly medaled in second while obliterating her 1600 PR by almost 6 seconds with a steller 5:11.85, and came back laster and medaled in 4^th with an outstanding 11:41.10 in the 3200. Daniel medaled 3^rd in the shot (10 lb), a PR by 6 feet over last year. In the 300 hurdles Katarina push down the final 100 meters to pass three competitors and secure the 4^th place medal in a PR of 48.62.

It was a long, but fruitful day of track & field.
